Dr. Varun Ravindra Tadkalkar is a distinguished Consultant Gastroenterologist, Hepatologist, Endoscopist, and Liver Transplant Physician at Fortis Hospital, Mumbai, with expertise in advanced gastroenterology and hepatobiliary sciences. He completed his MBBS from GMC & J.J. Hospital, Mumbai, followed by MD in Internal Medicine from GMC Surat. He then pursued his DM in Gastroenterology at GMC Thiruvananthapuram, one of South India’s most reputed institutes. After his training, he worked at one of the busiest gastroenterology centers in Gujarat, where he refined his skills in advanced endoscopic procedures including ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography) and EUS (Endoscopic Ultrasound).
Having worked across different states, Dr. Tadkalkar is fluent in Marathi, Hindi, Gujarati, Malayalam, and English, which enables him to connect with patients from diverse backgrounds with ease.
His key clinical interests include Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Hepatology, and Advanced Endoscopic Interventions. He has been recognized for his academic contributions, receiving the All India Best Thesis Award by the API, along with accolades for oral paper presentations at national and international conferences.
Dr. Tadkalkar has also contributed globally as an invited faculty in Tanzania, where he trained doctors in advanced endoscopic procedures such as ERCP and EUS, and participated in liver transplantation awareness programs. Currently, along with his gastroenterology practice, he also serves as a Liver Transplant Physician at Fortis Hospital, Mumbai.
